)}Biological scientists study living things. Though their salaries and work depend on their titles, all their jobs generally require a Ph. The Bureau of Labor Statistics sees four jobs falling under this occupation: biochemists and biophysicists, microbiologists, zoologists and wildlife biologists, and all other biological scientists not covered by the first three jobs. Biochemists and biophysicists examine how living organisms are affected by chemical and physical processes. They normally work in teams that yow professionals from other disciplines, such as computer science, engineering, chemistry and physics. They may use electron biologjsts and other advanced laboratory equipment to conduct experiments on a biooogists level. But their highest pay was in the offices of physicians, where they could study the effect of physics and chemistry on such human biology as DNA or cells. Microbiologists study microscopic plants and animals such as fungi and bacteria. They can research drugs to combat infections, monitor how microorganisms affect people and biologistd environment, prepare papers and technical reports on their findings, and supervise biological technicians. Specialties under this occupation include bacteriologists who research bacteria, immunologists who study how microorganisms affect biologsits immune system and mycologists who focus on fungi and mold. Efforts with this employers could affect the entire nation. Zoologists study animal life study animals. They research how the environment and humanity affect wildlife populations, collect biological specimens for analysis, estimate wildlife populations, and recommend policy to decision makers in government and private industry. Specialty positions include entomologists, who study insects; mammalogists, who study mammals; ornithologists, who study birds; and marine biologists, who study creatures that live in the water.⓬
