Unlike many of the other major peofessional, the Smash scene actually consists of multiple games, with Smash 4 on Wii U and Melee on the GameCube proving the two most successful iterations in the series. Both are still played competitively today and are the main focus of the scene, although some Project M and Brawl events continue. One of the biggest names in Super Smash Bros. PPMD always seems to do well at Apex, having also won in and placing 2nd inbut has seen some success at other major events such as Evo where he placed. PPMD is also one of the five gods of Smash, a group of players whose technical skill and dominance in the Melee scene granted them the title of a god. At only 19 years old Nairo manages to take a spot on the list, mostly thanks to his skills in Smash 4. Nairo has also seen a fair amount of success in Super Smash Bros. Around 70 per cent of his winnings has come from Smash 4, with almost all of the remainder being made during his time in Brawl. As one of the oldest Smash Bros competitors, at 30 years of age, Ken has seemingly done it all in his long career. During his prime in the early to mid s he was considered the best Melee player in the world, and even nicknamed «The King of Smash». He decided to retire from competitive play in January this year to become a streamer, but ZeRo came out to E3 for the Super Smash Bros. Invitational that he would go on to win and is now considering coming out of retirement for Super Smash Bros. Otherwise, I’m just gonna be a streamer and a commentator. Barrios goes on to say that players can make more money working at McDonald’s than they would for winning EVO for Super Smash Bros, and the numbers actually appear to support that depending on the game you play.
